snapchatThe Wall Street Journal recently shared new data showing that Snapchat usage has soared and is continuing to grow. Snapchat is one of the fastest growing social networks and is quickly becoming a marketing tool for businesses.

If you’re unfamiliar, Snapchat is a mobile app that is popular with millennials. It allows you to send photos or videos otherwise known as “snaps” that disappear after 10 seconds (or less!). Snapchat has over 100 million active users every day and 60% of smartphone users in the US between 13 and 34 use the app. Users love Snapchat because its fun and brands are saying it is revolutionizing how we communicate with fans.

But how can you get started using Snapchat with your customer?

  1. Give access to live events or behind the scenes content

Snapchat is a great real-time marketing tool. You can use it for trade shows, local events, launches or special content. The NBA used Snapchat in a variety of ways during the NBA Finals and the draft, giving their fans a unique look at the events.

2. Show off your personality

Snapchat is a fun app. Part of the reason its become so popular is because of its fun, silly nature. You can use the filters, draw doodles on snaps and give your customers a real look at the culture and personality of your company.

3. Tell a story

Snapchat’s “story” feature allows you to string together multiple quick snaps into a story that will be available for 24 hours. This combination of storytelling and quick sound bites combines two major marketing trends.

4. Create a Geofilter to market your business

A filter is a small art graphics that show up over a snap. When Snapchatters in the location of your choice  take a Snap, they can select your geofilter and use it on their snap. If your restaurant is having a special event, you can create a geofilter so your guests can let their friends know. They are location specific or you can pay more and create a national geofilter.

Whether you want to use their filters or advertising or just want to connect more with your audience, Snapchat can be a great marketing tool for your business!
