1. Don’t get crazy with fonts
Typography is a very trendy topic these days and we know how many cool fonts exist out there in the Internet. But when you’re picking fonts for your site, please use caution and limit the amount you have. You don’t need five different script fonts all over the place. We suggest choosing a 3-4 different fonts and using them for specific things such as: headers, sub headers and body fonts. It leads to a much cleaner and more professional look.
2. Make it obvious what you want people to do
This might sound silly however, too many websites are chaotic and difficult to manage and users get confused the minute they get to your site. Use easy navigation, like a standard navigation bar at the top or on the side of the page so your visitors know how to find what they are looking for.
3. Keep it simple
Similar to the tip above, the best thing to do when designing is to keep it simple. You don’t need a bunch of videos, options, pages or animation on your site. Our brains won’t process much information when they are overloaded so try to avoid any competing calls to action, overload of images or anything else.
4. Be picky about color
Colors are amazing and can really make a website pop but you want people to be able to read and understand what you are saying. So if you are using color, make sure that it works. Your font should be significantly darker than your background or significantly lighter than your background so that it is easy to read. Use colors for emphasis or to match your branding.
5. Responsive design is key
We love this tip and have mentioned in several previous posts because it’s so important! Always remember that people visit sites from different forms: desktop, tablet, and phones so design with everything in mind.
