Ecommerce is about selling products online.  It is pretty simple if you currently have a brick and mortar store to transition and sell not only in your store but online as well.   However, if you don’t currently have a store but you like the idea of selling products online, then stick around. We work with people that are totally new as well as those that want to expand their audience.  We love building and designing e-commerce stores that are revolutionary and work seamlessly with your current stores’ inventory systems.  Together we can come up with the perfect solution for your business.  Let’s take a look at what components you need for an e-commerce store.

Products

Products are needed to have an e-commerce store.  But, did you know that you don’t actually have to own the products?  This means that you don’t have to have huge inventories of products that are simply sitting on the shelves waiting for a purchase. You can have a dropshipping store instead.  Or even a hybrid store, meaning you have some physical products maybe in your warehouse and others in someone else’s.  You can certainly get pretty creative on this.  There are all kinds of various things you can sell.  You could also offer print on demand.  This is a practice where you create designs that are appealing to your audience and have them printed as you sell them.  The print company will ship them out for you.  This is another business that won’t take much to get started.

Platform

If you know what products you are planning to sell, you will then need to figure out the platform.  No worries if you don’t know what this means.  We can help.  Your website can be put on Shopify or a WordPress site with WooCommerce.  There are some benefits to both, however, it really will depend on what you plan to do with the site and how capable and willing you are at learning how to put in your inventory and such.  We can also offer this to you as well, but most business owners like to be able to add inventory and start sales and such on their own.  Not a problem, we just need to understand what functions you want on your site before we begin.

Functions

An Ecommerce website has to have certain things before you can begin.  You will need to have a payment processor in place.  Keep in mind that if you are going to go with a Shopify account, Shopify will charge you if you don’t use Stripe, which is their preferred processor.  However, you can use whoever you’d like.  We do also recommend you getting a Paypal account if you don’t have one and make it a business account.  This will allow people to use Paypal on your site as a method of payment.  Some people just use Paypal for payment and nothing more.  You will need shipping options and have shipping determined either by weight or flat rate.  Some sort of inventory system will have to be made so you know where to find things and can take the things offline should you run out of stock.  These are just some of the basics you need to understand to get started in E-commerce.
